In a team

In a team, you're the one who untangles the threads: who's doing what, by when, and where things stand. People can rely on your work, and they notice that quickly. If someone works more loosely than you, ask how they'd like to go about it before suggesting a system, so your organising feels like help rather than control.

Studying and exam season

You study best with a plan: a schedule, a checklist, review days set in advance. That's a real advantage in exam season; just make sure polishing your notes doesn't eat into practice time. Plan in rest days too, and remember that you don't need to know every topic perfectly for the exam to go well.

Under stress

What throws you most is a plan falling apart at the last minute, or a shared deadline slipping because of someone else. It helps to work out the minimum that absolutely has to happen and rebuild from there. Remind yourself that done often matters more than perfect.

Growth tips

• Leave room in your plans for the unexpected: a little buffer goes a long way.
• When someone does something differently, ask why before you correct it.
• Practise 'good enough' on less important tasks, and save your energy for what really counts.

For your first student job

• If you have a choice, look for places with clear processes, like admin, stock management or quality control.
• In your first days, ask for the key rules and deadlines in writing too, and you'll feel confident fast.
• If you spot a more efficient way of doing something, talk it through with your manager first instead of introducing it on your own.
